Greater Houston Chapter: Accelerating Patient Recruitment with Artificial Intelligence

Event Description:
Clinical research sites often face strong headwinds when it comes to clinical trial recruitment due to overburdened staff, complex protocols with stringent eligibility criteria, high rates of protocol deviations and high dropout rates. Using AI to precision match patients to clinical trials can help de-risk and accelerate recruitment. Today, health systems across the country are investing in artificial intelligence (AI) to mine their structured and unstructured electronic medical record (EMR) data to better assess trial feasibility and reduce the time their staff spend on manual chart reviews.

In this webinar, presenters from two leading clinical research sites will describe how they’ve deployed and rolled out AI solutions, a model for managing AI technologies through the clinical trials office, how they’ve upskilled clinical research coordinators (CRCs), the impact AI has had on recruitment and diversity in clinical trials to-date, and lessons learned along the way.

Speakers:
Suneet Mittal, MD
Valley Health System

Toni Holway, PhD
Deep 6 AI

Robert C. Stillman, MA, RN
The James Comprehensive Cancer Center at The Ohio State University

Learning Objectives:
  1. Understand how AI is used to precision match patients to clinical trials to de-risk and accelerate recruitment and reduce the time their staff spend on manual chart reviews.
  2. Explain how health systems can deploy an AI clinical trial solution, including a model for managing AI technologies through the clinical trials office.
  3. Review a case study on the impact AI has had on recruitment and diversity and discuss lessons learned along the way.
