Program Description: The presenter will review the ethical imperative behind informed consent and discuss how to use consent effectively to build a trusting relationship with research participants in the course of research and for different types of research.

Upon completion of this session, attendees should be able to:

  • Describe the ethical foundation for informed consent for research participation
  • Discuss the components in consent that contribute to building trust with participants
  • Explore ways, including re-consenting, to meet consent challenges presented by different study circumstances
