Program Description:
Three Identical Strangers tells the story of triplets separated at birth—two discovered each other during college, then were reunited with their brother several months later. They initially celebrate their new found brotherhood but as time passes, difficulties arise. It’s later revealed they were part of a study where, as children, they were adopted by parents of differing backgrounds and socioeconomic status.
This interactive program will start with an overview of the bioethics of clinical research followed by a viewing of the film. Afterward there will be a panel discussion and Q & A
session lead by our panelists.
ObjectivesAttendees will have an understanding of:
1. the ethical implications of the study depicted in the film. Could the study have been conducted ethically?
2. what was learned about the study since the release of the movie.
3. whether human behavior is affected more by genetics or environment.
4. whether the results should be disseminated.
