Baltimore-Washington Chapter: Soft Skills-Your Career Superpower

When:  Oct 10, 2024 from 04:00 PM to 05:00 PM (ET)

Baltimore-Washington Chapter: Soft Skills-Your Career Superpower

Event Description:
When thinking of career progression, most clinical research professionals focus on obtaining a degree, certification or accreditation. Enhancing your knowledge within the clinical research space is important, but often individuals overlook how important it is to also improve their soft skills.

Possessing effective soft skills can be your superpower when it comes to winning a promotion or landing a new position. In fact, Harvard University led a study with the Carnegie Foundation and Stanford Research Center which showed 85% of job success comes from having well-developed soft skills. Our hiring statistics agree, showing that only 15-20% of candidates we placed are a perfect match for a position’s hard skill requirements. With such an emphasis on the importance of soft skills, this learning session will provide you with tools to assess the maturity of your soft skills. We will then discuss developmental tasks you can employ to strengthen or enhance those that may be weak.

Speaker:
Angela Roberts

Learning Objectives:
  1. Understand the ‘not so obvious’ reasons soft skills are critical in being an effective clinical researcher.
  2. Use available resources to assess soft skill strengths and weaknesses.
  3. Explore developmental tasks to enhance or mature your soft skills.
  4. How to highlight your soft skills in your resume and during interviews.
