Program Description:
The COVID-19 pandemic has rapidly disrupted much of the clinical trial industry and key stakeholders have had to also adjust rapidly to the evolving landscape. We will offer an overview of the clinical trials that have started up to investigate ways to treat and prevent COVID-19 since the identification of the SARS-CoV-2. We will also look at how the pandemic has impacted the way clinical trials are now being conducted, from the site, sponsor and subject perspectives, and how regulations have, or should be, amended to adapt to the changing environment.
Upon completion of this symposium, attendees should be able to:
-
describe the progress of COVID-19 treatment and vaccine clinical trials, and understand the process for bringing them to market;
-
understand how the clinical research industry has been affected by the pandemic and how regulations have changed to meet the unique needs of the times;
-
describe how COVID-19 has changed, and will continue to change, the way we conduct clinical trials.
Target Audience: All clinical research professionals.
