Immediately following elections: Webinar Replay of “How Informed Are Your Research Participants?”This session will provide insight into the results of a study that was conducted over 30 years which demonstrates research participants’ understanding of the key elements that make up the consent document. In addition, attendees will be provided with a sample patient questionnaire that seeks to collect data that will assist the research site and IRB collaboratively measure research participant understanding at the local level. Finally, this session will also provide the mechanism, through tools and resources, by which sites and IRBs can collect data and identify actionable quality improvement opportunities.
Upon completion of this Webinar, attendees should be able to:
- Examine current trends surrounding Participants’ understanding of informed consent in clinical trials through review of published results
- Demonstrate a collaborative strategy between a research site and an IRB in developing and implementing a patient questionnaire in order to measure a participant’s understanding of the consent process
- Interpret patient questionnaire metrics that will lead to conclusions regarding the quality of the informed process at the research site
