Program Description:
This presentation will start with a high-level look at vaccine science, along with the approach to testing vaccines in clinical trials. This information will be connected to the vaccine development efforts underway with the COVID-19 vaccine. Approaches to accelerating the vaccine development process will be discussed and goals for newly developed vaccines to be evaluated across diverse populations will be considered in light of the impact of the current pandemic.
Upon completion of this Seminar, attendees should be able to:
- Discuss essentials of vaccine function
- Describe the approach to COVID-19 vaccine development and clinical trials to study vaccine effectiveness
- Communicate the importance of diversity in vaccine trials and advocate for engagement with vaccine clinical trial process
