Program Description:
We will watch "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lack,” which tells the story of an African American woman whose cells were used to create the first immortal human cell line. The film describes how the unauthorized harvesting of Lacks’ cancerous cells in 1951 led to unprecedented medical breakthroughs and research ethics. The group will discuss the medical and ethical implications.
