Ayn Rand said that “Throughout the centuries there were men who took first steps down new roads armed with nothing but their own vision.”  Given this new road for networking, I’ll say this…. similar social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace are the successes they are today not because they had superior technology, but because they debuted with the kind of people that gave it its initial content and sustained the surrounding excitement.  Many social networking sites have failed because of the lack of enthusiasm from the first set of members, not the technology.   I know from this group of Forum contributors as well as from other clinical researchers across the globe that there is no lack of enthusiasm when we talk about issues that pertain to human subject protection, how to prepare for certification exams, contracting issues and discussing a wide variety of tools and tips to make us better researchers (or at least make our workday a little easier).   Will you need to contribute?  Yes.  Will it have glitches?  Undoubtedly.  But as we take our first steps down this new road armed with our vision of excellence for the clinical research profession around the globe, I ask each and every one of you as leaders to reflect on Ghandi’s statement that  “You must be the change you want to see in the world” and contribute accordingly to this new medium.  Let’s populate it with content and work out the kinks so that once it is open for all members in January, we can start out with the most robust center for clinical research information and networking on the planet- and the beauty is it will continue to grow and thrive as we cultivate new leaders around the globe.  This will be something we will achieve as a group and be proud of.    We will only build this once and I want you to be a part of it!   Thank you, in advance, for your leadership and contributions.
