Managing "Trial Drift" in clinical trials

By Al Pacino posted 02-02-2009 10:53 AM

Trial drift normally occurs when the interest level in a clinical trial deteriorates and the average knowledge base of personnel involved in a study decreases as the trial extends its time line. Sponsors, investigators and support service organizations are faced with a plethora of daily managerial challenges during the clinical trial process. These managerial challenges are commonly known in the clinical research industry as the "Trial Drift" phenomenon. “Trial Drift” is directly responsible for billions of dollars wasted during clinical trials. This waste is often evident by delays in decision making and the failure to streamline the clinical trial process. http://www.TrialDrift.org

I have created a discussion group through the ACRP community called Trial Drift - Solutions so that you can tell us your experience with issues associated with this phenomena and offer to share constructive solutions which you and your colleagues have put in place in order to minimize drift in your clinical trial!
