NY Metro Chapter: Clinical Trials in the Age of Weight Loss Drugs
Feb 24, 06:00 PM - 07:30 PM (ET)
NY Metro Chapter: Clinical Trials in the Age of Weight Loss Drugs Event Description: GLP-1 and weight loss drugs are everywhere, from clinical trial protocols to everyday conversations. But what does their rapid rise really mean for the way clinical trials are designed, conducted, and monitored? Join the NY Metro Chapter of ACRP for a virtual fireside chat that takes a relatable, real-world look at the evolution of GLP-1 therapies. We will explore where these drugs came from, how they are helping patients, where challenges and unintended consequences are emerging, and what the future pipeline may hold. The discussion will also dive into practical implications for clinical trials, including eligibility and retention, safety and quality considerations, regulatory impact, and how different roles across the clinical research ecosystem are being affected. This session is designed for clinical research professionals across all functions who want to better understand how weight loss drugs are reshaping the clinical trial landscape. Speaker: Melanie Jay, MD, MS Learning Objectives: Understand how GLP-1 and weight loss drugs evolved and why they are so widely used today Recognize both the benefits and challenges these therapies create for patients and clinical trials Identify common impacts on trial eligibility, retention, and participant behavior Discuss key safety, quality, and regulatory considerations emerging in studies involving GLP-1 use Gain insight into what upcoming pipelines may mean for future clinical trials Registration Information: Click here to register before 2/23/26.
