Program Description/Objectives:This program will unwind the complexities of understanding the HIPAA regulation and what it means if you are a covered entity, responsible for adhering to the law.
After attending this event, you should be able to:
- Know how to determine if an entity’s activities are regulated by HIPAA
- Know what kind of information HIPAA protects
- Know who to contact at a HIPAA regulated entity if you have HIPAA related questions
- Describe how HIPAA treats PHI differently in the TPO vs. Research contexts
