Program Description: This lecture will provide an overview of diagnostic testing from blood samples and the challenges of normalizing results within large clinical research trials.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe how blood tests are used in conducting clinical research.
- Explain the historical use of blood tests in research.
- Demonstrate general knowledge of the types of tests used for diagnosis of common human disease conditions
- Describe how tests are conducted and discuss the challenges faced by clinical sites in performing protocol-required tests.
- Describe and specify the regulations applicable to testing laboratories and tests in general.
- Discuss the challenges of normalizing of test results obtained from multi-site and multi-national clinical research sites.
