Program Description/Objectives:
This program will unwind the complexities of understanding the HIPAA regulation and what it means if you are a covered entity, responsible for adhering to the law.

After attending this event, you should be able to:
  • Know how to determine if an entity’s activities are regulated by HIPAA
  • Know what kind of information HIPAA protects
  • Know who to contact at a HIPAA regulated entity if you have HIPAA related questions
  • Describe how HIPAA treats PHI differently in the TPO vs. Research contexts
