The Weekly Placebo serves as a repository and discussion generator for news items related to the clinical research enterprise that, by and large, are regional, rather than national/international in nature. The topics highlighted here most typically come from media sources that are much smaller than those that are shared regularly with ACRP members through the Wire e-newsletter, but may serve to follow-up on recent Wire items in between its bi-weekly issues.

Managing "Trial Drift" in clinical trials::: Trial drift normally occurs when the interest level in a clinical trial deteriorates and the average knowledge base of personnel involved in a study decreases as the trial extends its time line. Sponsors, investigators and support service organizations are faced with a plethora of daily managerial challenges during the clinical trial process. These managerial challenges are commonly known in the clinical research industry as the "Trial Drift" phenomenon. “Trial Drift” is directly responsible for billions of dollars wasted during clinical trials. This waste is often evident by delays in decision making and the failure to streamline the clinical trial process. *THE GOAL OF THIS DISCUSSION GROUP - is to provide a central repository / database of old as well as new issues associated with “TrialDrift” and, based on our own personal experience, share potential solutions in order to improve our personal trial knowledgebase
